Oil Pulling… Not just the latest health fad! Using oil as a mouth wash is an Ayurvedic tradition that has been used for centuries. It cuts through plaque and eliminates bad bacteria in the mouth thus giving you a sparkling white smile! This simple technique not only has profound effects on the visual health of the gums and teeth, it also has physiological benefits for the overall health of the elimination system. The oil actually pulls toxins from the whole body into the mouth and out through the oil.
*Pulls bacteria and nasties out of every nook and cranny of the mouth. Under the gum line, in pockets and holes within the teeth.
*Prevents & treats gingivitis
*Fixes the teeth in the gums
*Prevents cavities & tooth decay
*Releases TMJ (Jaw tension) you might be holding stress and tension here especially if you grid your teeth.
*Pulls up congested lymph and catarrh from the neck, throat and lymph glands.
*Detoxifies the body by helping clear the blood of bacteria passed from the mouth.
*Takes the load off the immune system.
*Prevents and heals infections
*Use 1 heaped teaspoon of coconut (my favourite) sesame (traditional) or olive oil.
*Place in the mouth (allow to melt on the tongue if using coconut oil)
*Swish around for 10 to 20 minutes, pulling in between the teeth and vigorously side to side (you will feel the oil turn into salvia, very watery)
*Spit out in the bin (to stop it clogging the drains!)
*Swish your mouth out with water
14 days solid initially is recommended for maximum benefits, 20 minutes is ideal, but if you are in a hurry 10 minutes will still provide benefits. After this 3-4 times a week is sufficient to keep those pearly whites!
If you are still not convinced by this simple technique I recommend you read the book Oil Pulling, Detoxifying and Healing The Body Through Oral Cleansing By Bruce Fife. This gives tons of testimonials from people who have had big breakthroughs in many areas of their health by incorporating oil pulling daily
If you have an infection or tooth ache adding a drop of Oil of Oregano, Tea Tree or Clove essential oil to your oil pulling regime will nip it in the bud. I also recommend tongue scraping and flossing with tea tree essential oil for extra oral hygiene and cavity protection.
If you are looking to strengthen and remineralise the tooth enamel I would recommend getting more fat soluble vitamins in the diet such as Vitamin K2, D3 and vitamin A found in butter ghee and raw grass fed butter plus high quality minerals such as this liquid silica and seaweed capsules.
Using the above tools is a sure fire way to keep the dentist away!
